The Doll Hospital That Lived in My Heart

• Books & Patterns • Judy's Thoughts and Ideas to share • My Doll Hospital Dream

When I was a young girl, I had a dream.

I wanted to open a doll hospital—a special place where worn and broken dolls could be carefully repaired, lovingly restored, and returned to the arms of someone who cherished them. To me, dolls were never just toys. They held stories, memories, and a kind of quiet magic.

Along with that dream came another: I wanted to design and sew beautiful clothes for those dolls. I imagined fabrics, tiny stitches, delicate trims, and outfits that would bring each doll back to life in a new way.

My grandmother believed in me. She encouraged my creativity and gently urged me to follow my dream. And in my own way, I tried.

Over the years, I collected books and magazine articles on doll repair, clothing design, and sewing, crochet and knitting techniques. I studied them, saved them, and even took a class to learn how to repair dolls properly. Each piece I gathered felt like a step closer to that little doll hospital I carried in my heart.

But as life often does, other responsibilities and paths unfolded. Time passed, and although the dream never disappeared, it was set aside.

Still, I never let it go completely.

Instead, I continued collecting—building a small but meaningful library filled with knowledge, inspiration, and creativity. Many of these books i have are now out of print, little treasures from another time, carefully gathered over decades.

Now, in my 80s, I find myself reflecting not on what I didn’t do, but on what I what i wanted to do.

I’ve decided to sell my dreams at a discounted price!

These books and articles deserve to be in the hands of someone who has the time, the passion, and perhaps the same dream I once had. Maybe you are someone who wants to design and sell doll clothes. Maybe you want to restore a beloved doll. Or maybe—just maybe—you’ve dreamed of opening a doll hospital of your own.

If so, I hope this helps you take that step and that the someone is you!
